The Era of Consolidation

The stabilization of the land forced the stabilization of politics. Two distinct national identities emerged from the coalescing city-states, eventually formalizing into the Kingdom of Valentia and the Realm of Dagoneth.

• The Great Compromise: Rather than fighting for dominance, the two emerging nations acknowledged their dependence on the north-south trade axis. The North needed Southern food; the South needed Northern ore and glass.
• The Establishment of Duarn: To ensure this delicate balance held, the city of Duarn was designated as a neutral "valve" between the nations. Governed by a joint council with a Church tiebreaker, it became the physical manifestation of the peace treaty—a place where neither nation ruled, but both were heard.

Current Status Ardynia is currently in a long period of peace, maintained not by the absence of tension, but by the necessity of trade and the stabilizing influence of the Church. While Valentia relies on the Crown and Dagoneth relies on the Faith, both acknowledge that the survival of the continent depends on the machinery of their cooperation remaining intact.
